Art & Craft Attractions

1. The Pahang Art Museum or known locally as Balai Seni Lukis Pahang is located in Kuantan, the state capital of Pahang as the main center to promote and develop the arts and crafts industries of the state. The building was launched in 2006 and opened to the public in 2007, an initiative between the Pahang state government and the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur. The first curator of the gallery was Mohamad Ismadi Sallehuddin, a graduate from University Technology Mara. Throughout the years, it has firmly established itself as one of the major places to showcase the works of artists mainly from Pahang as well as from the surrounding states.

2. Kompleks Tenun Pahang Diraja is located 8 km from Kuantan city. Woven fabric believed to have originated from Riau Pahang or Sulawesi. Brought to Pahang in the 16th century AD. Bugis introduced by a speaker called the Tuk Tuan (Keraing Aji).

Woven fabric of Pahang has become part of Malaysian culture is used mainly in formal ceremonies and honor. Royal Pahang woven produced according to traditional methods of maintaining subtlety and get praise and attention of fans in the traditional goods and abroad.

Woven fabrics of Pahang are commonly used for sarong, sampin and scarf, is applied in the modern fashion designs in line with the latest trends and tastes. It is also used by local designer and abroad, especially to the government official, the Royal Wedding and customs.

Starting from the year 1995 until now PKNP has taken the initiative to develop and redevelop the Royal Pahang Woven Fabrics Woven to ensure the Royal Pahang always remain the Art Heritage of Pahang.

Today, Complex Extension Weaving Royal Pahang Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, located in the village of Soi, Kuantan is PKNP efforts to increase production and quality, and to uphold the Royal Pahang Weaving products in the international fashion arena.
