Things To Do In Cherating

1. Water Activities

Cherating Beach has two distinct seasons – the windy season (April to October) and the season of the waves – monsoon (November to March). During the monsoon season, Cherating boasts close to perfect conditions for surfing at any level – from beginner to expert. The windy season offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional Malaysian love for kiting. Some of Malaysia’s leading sportsmen in windsurfing and kitesurfing live in Cherating and give classes to visitors. Stand-up paddling, which is a fun solo or group activity, is available all year-round during days with less wind and fewer waves. Due to its shallow waters in some areas, Cherating Beach is a perfect place to learn swimming and other watersports. You can also try yachting, kayaking, snorkeling, and river cruising.

This sanctuary is a tribute to the gentle giants of the South Seas, the near-extinct Leatherback turtles, that made Chendor Beach their destination of choice to lay their eggs. The Chendor Turtle Sanctuary has located only a few minute's drives from Cherating. A small turtle information centre, a souvenir kiosk, and turtle pools with live Green or Ridley turtles are kept for conservation purposes. It is a recommended spot for turtle watching (April - September).
