Nestled along the banks of Sungai Jelai, this humble wooden mosque was generously founded by Yemeni merchant Habib Hassan in 1888 and served as Pahang’s state mosque during Kuala Lipis’s time as the state capital. Miraculously, the mosque has remained unscathed by major floods—even during the devastating deluges of 1926 and 1971—despite its riverside position. Imagine a place where history, faith, and community converge: many distinguished figures, including Sultan Abu Bakar, Tun Abdul Razak, and Dato’ Abu Samah, have prayed here. Since 1980, it has been lovingly cared for by the Indian Muslim community and is affectionately known as the Indian Mosque today.
