State to hold ‘Revisit Pahang 2018’ - October 11, 2017

TEMERLOH: Come next year, the Pahang government will organize a “Re-Visit Pahang 2018” (RVP2018) programme as an extension of its tourism promotion efforts during Visit Pahang Year 2017 (VPY2017).

State tourism and culture committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin said the programme would be launched at the end of this year and for now, was planned to be held from January to June next year.He said one factor which led to RVP2018 was the many new attractions which were discovered during VPY2017, and that it would be a loss if these places were not promoted.

“One of the new attractions identified was Gunung Senyum in Maran, which is a choice destination for people who love rock climbing as it is challenging. He said RVP2018 would also help homestay and hotel operators as well as others who would benefit from the economic spillover. — Bernama

E-commerce for Indians in Bentong- October 10, 2017

BENTONG: The Government will assist the Indian community in Bentong by providing them with training and courses in e-commerce, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Speaking at a Deepavali celebration in Kampung Telemong multipurpose hall here, the Bentong MP said the Government wants to empower the Indian community, as well as youths in his constituency, to be involved in e-commerce.“As our country is fast developing, we want to make sure that there are ample job opportunities for young people in Bentong.“When there is growth in the tourism industry and increase in economic activity, there will be more job opportunities here.

Liow, who is MCA president, attended two Deepavali celebrations organized by local MIC leaders in Kampung Telemong and Taman Bukit Dinding here yesterday. He also presented the poor with rice and ang pow, to help ease their financial burden as the Festival of Light draws near.“We want Bentong residents to be able to celebrate Deepavali with utmost joy,” Liow said.Earlier in Putrajaya, Liow presented a RM2mil allocation to SJKC Dengkil, thanks to a special allocation from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The allocation will be used to build a three-storey block that will house 24 classrooms.Liow said the money received by the school was on top of the RM50mil the Government has allocated to Chinese primary schools this year. Also present were the school’s board of directors chairman Datuk Chan Meng Poh, Sepang MCA chief Datuk Ng Chok Sin and headmaster Wong See Lee.

Chan, who thanked the Prime Minister on behalf of the school, said the new building was expected to be ready next year.He said once the new block is ready, students would be able to study in a more comfortable environment.SJKC Dengkil, which has been around for nearly 60 years, has 652 students.
